biography

Moritz Winker was born in 1984 and began bassoon lessons at the age of 8.

He was a multiple prize winner in the Youth Music competition “Jugend Musiziert”.

At the age of 15 he took part in the German Youth Orchestra and was later also a member of the “Junge deutschen Philharmonie”.

He is a recipient of the State of Thüringen Science, Research and Music Scholarship and a German National Academic Foundation Scholarship.

As a Chamber Musician, Moritz has appeared in many countries including Switzerland, Austria and Turkey.

In 2007, Moritz was a member of the academy of the “Staatskapelle Berlin” under Daniel Barenboim, before winning his current position of Solo Bassoon in the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2009.

In 2012, after graduating with full honours from the University of Music in Würzburg, he appeared as a soloist with the Bayerische Staatsoper with the chief conductor Kent Nagano.

Moritz is a much sort after guest musician in many world-renowned orchestras including Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic.

The Kulturpreis Bayern 2013 was given Moritz Winker, rewarding his outstanding final exams at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg.

Besides my students at the academy of the bavarian state orchestra, I also teach bassoon at the university of music in Würzburg and you can find me on playwithapro.com

Next to Professor Albrecht Holder, I will be teaching with teaching assignment with the special focus on “Test Pieces” (Orchestral Excerpts), basic technique and reed making.

I will be regularely teaching at the Probespieltrainings des Bayerischen Staatsorchesters and did that already at the Orchesterzentrum NRW and in Vigo (Spain)..
