BIOGRAPHY
WHO IS MORITZ WINKER?
I am principal bassoon at the Bavarian State Opera and lecturer for bassoon at the University of Music in Würzburg. As an enthusiastic chamber musician, I am a permanent member of the Volkenroda summer concerts and the Goldberg Septet.
1984
EARLY LIFE
I was born as the fourth and last child near Stuttgart. In addition to fencing, there were ornamental fish and everything that flew my great passion.
I finished my school with the Abitur at the free Waldorf School in Weimar
EDUCATION
I started playing the bassoon at the age of seven. Since then I have been friends with my first bassoon teacher Dagmer Scheel from the Tübingen music school.
After moving to the Thuringian state capital Erfurt, I was lucky enough to meet Torsten Klier from the Erfurt Music School, an ambitious and caring bassoon teacher
2004
After completing my preliminary studies at the same place, I also began full studies with Prof. Albrecht Holder at the University of Music in Würzburg after graduating from high school.
My admission to the German National Academic Foundation was a great motivation.
I was finally able to complete my studies with honors in the masterclass. In the course of this, I was awarded the Bavarian Culture Prize because of my excellent graduation.
CAREER
At the age of 14, I became a member of the Federal Youth Orchestra, which I will remember as one of the most formative phases. The pacific music festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival also prepared me for my job as an orchestral musician.
In the Academy of the Berlin State Opera, I learned the craft under Daniel Barenboim, which I have been able to use every day as a solo bassoonist at the Bavarian State Opera since 2009.
2009
TEACHING
Since 2018 I have been a lecturer at the University of Music in Würzburg. In addition to taking care of our academics at the Bavarian State Opera, I have already been able to gain experience in master classes in Portugal, South Korea or at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
